ehrentitle Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 (edited) After seeing Paul Murphy's post on Nepalese buttons I thought it might be fun to start a thread on Nepalese insignia an Khukuri's. To kick things off here is a pair of Major insignia given to me by our Nepalese Transportation Officer on the UN HQ staff in Haiti - Edited September 17, 2006 by ehrentitle

shako_uk Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 After seeing Paul Murphy's post on Nepalese buttons I thought it might be fun to start a thread on Nepalese insignia an Khukuri's. To kick things off here is a pair of Major insignia given to me by our Nepalese Transportation Officer on the UN HQ staff in Haiti -A few Nepalese badges shown below. Five only being identified. Can anyone tell me what No.4 is, please? All the badges (except No.4) are typical Indian-made cast brass items, but are finished with a coating of gloss black paint. No.4 is a die-struck badge with no fasteners. It looks to be a sew-on item.I would also be interested to hear if anyone has a cap badge of the Nepalese Air Force.1. Ka Ba Battalion2. Rajdal Battalion3. Mahendra Dal Battalion4. Unidentified5. Pashupati Battalion6. Sher BattalionI have a few more Nepalese badges, including a "set" of the officers' cap badges, if they are of interest.[attachmentid=54362]
Tom Y Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 No badges, but here's 19th Century Royal Nepalese Army kukri. Somewhat larger than later models. I've been told that the "change purse" that fits in a pocket in front of the belt loop is for a flint to use with the blunt edged small knife for starting fires.
