Theodor Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Hi guys, got this canvas pouch, I guess it is for tent pegs, but may be wrong. Had some leather straps on it, which by unknown rason are removed and put inside it. Made by Gottschalk & Co A.G. Cassel 1914. It has length 40 cm. So, is it tent pegs, or something else?
Tony Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Theodor,Gottschalk und Co. appears to have been a textile company. Maybe they made the pouches for tent pegs or something similar.Tony
JensF. Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Thats the pouch for the tent equipment. Unfortunately the leather straps are missing.
Tom Y Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Here's what it contained. The straps went through the 2 small loops at the inside top of the Tornister. Half of what you needed to set up a tent. You'd find someone with another bagful and another Zeltbahn and you good to go.
Chip Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Actually, Tom's Zeltbahnzuh?rbeutel is missing one important thing, the guy rope. Each bag should contain one, but they are almost always missing (must have come in handy for other uses). You would have a lot of trouble putting up a shelter without one.Gottschalk & Co. A.G. made all kinds of canvas items for the imperial army. In addition to tent pole bags, they also made breadbags, wirecutter carriers, Tr?nkeimer (collapsible canvas water bags), and no doubt all sorts of other things.Chip
