Christian L
looking at this pic, i'd say that it is an austrian soldier (probably aritillery). i'm also not 100% sure what the medal on the trifold ribbon is, but the badge on the other side of his breast i've never seen before (at least didn't realized it).hope you can help me bringing light into darkness and enjoy the pic as well.christian
Guest Rick Research
That looks like some sort of overly splendid patriotic badge. He is wearing what is probably the 1898 Military Jubilee Medal. The shoulder cord and lack of rank stars make me uncertain, but from the flaming grenade insignia, I'd say he has some affiliation with the Gendarmerie. Josef Rietveld
@ChristianLthe badge on the pic belongs to the kk Milit?r-Veteranen Reichsbund (a AH veterans organisation). Unfortunately i don't know more about this Reichsbund.Haynau
Eric Stahlhut
i've always wondered where this large badge was worn--i have seen it described as a cap badge, among other things
