Unusual unit...

My Iron Cross document collection has a small corner for "odd" units... this is one of those... an EK and wound badge to a man in " Sammelabteilung f?r Nachrichtenger?t 4"

that is pretty "out there" when it comes to obscure units.....

Chris,

Would a Sammelabteilung be a salvage unit that would gather damaged and abandoned telephone equipment or would it be something more like a park or "dump" for reserve telephone equipment. Would they have anything to do with repair or would that be called a Werkstatt?

I would imagine that the regular salvage units would have collected the signals stuff, it would have been a luxury to have a special signals salvage unit.

I would guess it is along the "park" or dump line.
