Gordon Williamson Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Good original badge, but not by Hymmen
genoa41 Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 Good original badge, but not by HymmenHello GordonSorry for my mistake. Is the badge alike that you showed in a postcard ?Can you help me to get out of this maze of ideas ?Many thanksgiorgio
Gordon Williamson Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Georgio, There are two badges which are almost identical. The badge by Hymmen, sometimes marked L/53, and the one you havee which is almost identical, but with some very slight differences to the eagle head, chest and the U-Boat. Both absolutely genuine examples from the period. Genuine Hymmen badges are very rare. This is a Hymmen piece. Look very closely at the eagles head and body and around the conning tower of the submarine and you will see several differences.

I think his badges are really meaningful , much more than those by Schwerin praised to the skies by everybody .I hope that in your forthcoming book you will give space to this makerMany thanks , yours sincerelygiorgio
