Wade Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I have this nice Masonic item and would like to know what it was used for? It is marked 14K with another marking that looks like an M on its side. It this made of 14K gold or plated? Does it have any value? Thanks for all help.
wm5806 Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Hi WadeFirstly, thanks for the photo - looks nice.I suspect the item is a cufflink, especially with the apparent swivel fitting on the reverse of the oval plates. As far as the marks go, the 14k I guess to indicate 14 carat (English spelling) gold. However, the mark after the 'K' could be, as you say an 'M' on its side or 'E' or the Greek character for sigma (upper-case). If it's 'E' then could it mean 14 carat gold electroplated? If it's an upper-case sigma, then it might be the maker's mark?Has anyone else any suggestions?
coastie Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 It is a cufflink, 1920's or earlier. The double eagle is for the 32 nd degree Scotish Rite. Value I don't know.
