John R Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Gordon has said this badge was produced with the wire catch and flat catch. Has anyone a photo of the RK U-boat with a flat catch?John
Gordon Williamson Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 If by "flat catch" you mean the integrally cast retainer block, this is a perfectly valid second type for the RK badge. Relatively scarce compared with the first type with wire retaining catch.
John R Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 (edited) Yes, I meant the integral cast catch. Thanks for correcting that. Then this badge looks like an original? The badge above and this seem to have the same reverse setups. John Edited January 30, 2007 by John Robinson
Gordon Williamson Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Yes, it looks fine. The second type RKs also have a more prominent maker mark.

I have not seen an image of the reverse of this second type badge except for the one you posted and the badge in question.John
