Guest Darrell Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 I thought I knew a bit about Canadian Medals, but this one's got me stumped. Is this for real? Here is the e-bay description:This is a Canadian Long Service Medal which dates from the last half of the 1960s or very early 1970s. It has the blue band to represent Venturers but does not include the later brown band for the Beaver program which was introduced in 1974. The medal is in excellent condition.
Paul R Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 The ribbon is very similar to our Navy Unit Commendation(A ribbon bar only award).Could this be some sort of Boy Scout award?
Mike Dwyer Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 (edited) I'm more familiar with USA Scouting, but Beaver is a rank of Scout. Beaver Scouts are young boys, around 6 years old who start as Beaver Scouts and then around the age of 8 1/2 move to Cub Scouts. So, this is a Scout medal, not a military one.
