Guest Rick Research Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 That's not Russian-- it's the Ukrainian issue.Lovely, poetic language. That is "Blossom Month"-- April.
Wilco Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 (edited) That's not Russian-- it's the Ukrainian issue.Lovely, poetic language. That is "Blossom Month"-- April. With all respect it is Russian Federation medal, instituted on June 7th 1993 by decree nr 5336-1 of the President of the Russian Federation:Russian Federation 50 yearsCan I conclude from your answer that this Russian Federation Medal was issued to an Ukranian Veteran? And is the booklet in total Ukranian or just the writing on it.?And did we translate the name correct? Edited April 5, 2007 by Wilco
Guest Rick Research Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Name That is as I said the Ukrainian Republic issue, pre-printed Presidium of the Ukraine title and seal just over the date, and with their own national issue bilingual cover design prominently featuring the revived Ukrainian trident emblem:After the lines about being awarded the medal, in Ukrainian under the recipient's name, the rest is in Russian. The Russian Federation issue award document has a different cover and of course is ONLY in Russian.Presumably the other successor Republics (White Russia and so on) may have had their own national issues, but since this is beyond my usual interests, the only groups I have for old WW2 veterans all happen to be from the Ukraine like yours. The medals are of course all the same, but the presentation paperwork is by successor Republic issue to each new state's residents.

Belaruski Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Out of interest, here is a Belarusian issue of the same document.
