Gordon Williamson Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Was this picture taken before the war, since it displays the number?Regards, HardyGenerally speaking any photos which show the number painted on the conning tower or a small plate near the bow, are prewar as these were painted out, for security reasons, during wartime.Boats which were captured or surrendered at the end of the war also had thier numbers painted on the side of the tower by the allies for ID purposes.
