Ed_Haynes Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Among the things we don't quite understand about the MPR awards system is the award of duplicate/replacement awards. So far as I (or we?) know, there isn't the Soviet-style duplicate "Д" marking custom.
Ed_Haynes Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 (edited) But a couple of recently-in award booklets speak to thsi process. Neither has a photograph.1- Edited April 21, 2007 by Ed_Haynes
Ed_Haynes Posted May 23, 2007 Author Posted May 23, 2007 Interesting results. The document shown in post #2:Name: TserenGiven name: Bayan-BurgedThe bearer is entitled to the privileges and money awards according to the general rules on orders from the date of the decree issuance about award of order of MPR from the presidium of the Lower Assembly. The award document is without valid date.Chairman of the Presidium of the Lower Assembly of MPR, BumtsendSecretary of the Presidium of the Lower Assembly of MPR, Bayar----Medal of Combat Service (maybe he lost his medal and got the new one)----[i cannot decipher the first row]The second row: Ministry of FinanceAnd the document in post #6:Mongolian People?s RepublicDocument of Order and MedalNo. 5181Issued November 18th 1950 (10 + 40)----Name SodovGiven name: SunravThe bearer is entitled to the privileges and money awards according to the general rules on orders from the date of the decree issuance about award of order of MPR from the presidium of the Lower Assembly. The award document is without valid date.Chairman of the Presidium of the Lower Assembly of MPR, BumtsendSecretary of the Presidium of the Lower Assembly of MPR, Bayar----Medal of combat serviceThere is some concern thet these order books may have been faked, to pair with "rogue" medals, but neither came with medals, so . . . ????

Guest Rick Research Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Could that be a replacement for a DOCUMENT that had been lost, rather than the medal itself?
Ed_Haynes Posted May 23, 2007 Author Posted May 23, 2007 Could that be a replacement for a DOCUMENT that had been lost, rather than the medal itself? The last one, absolutely, a document replacement/copy (I suspect the old one fell apart or no one could read the bichig anymore by 1986).The first two are PROBABLY medal replacements shown in the original document.I thought I made that clear, sorry.
