David S Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 Regarding the Specialists aboveI have seen versions with branch insignia Medical, Signal, QM . . .etc insignia. There are damned few pictures in wear of these.
Ed_Haynes Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Is it possible that posts 4-7 are military academy chevrons, rotated 180 degrees?
David S Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 (edited) To end some things that are rarely seen. They are non-military.Sometimes when seen, the situation is far from good.Sleeve insignia of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)1) Senior Lead Officer. Basically a junior field supervisor. Two chevrons alone is Training Officer.2) Watch Commander . . . the most senior rank before Management ranks. Edited May 5, 2007 by David S
David S Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 More sleeve insignia of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)This time for Detectives when in uniform, most are plainclothes.1) Detective I2) Detective II. More experience. Supervises I's.3) Detective III. Supervises I & II's.
David S Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 Is it possible that posts 4-7 are military academy chevrons, rotated 180 degrees? Here is a graphic from a site that is no longer working. They ARE quite odd.
David S Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 Ed . . . you might be thinking of Aviation Cadet during WW2. They were different. Here's a graphic from the same site as the previous.
David S Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 Here is a Private First Class - Specialist 1st Class - MedicalThis isn't mine, but might be soon !!!
Ed_Haynes Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 No, I was thinking of the cadet officer chevrons that are worn by a wide range of military academies (USMA, VMI, Citadel, etc.).But what you show are just bizarre beyone belief!! Wow!
David S Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 (edited) You mean these beasties I have a few.Top is a USMA Cadet Battalion Sergeant Major circa 1950s. Bottom is USMA Cadet Regimental Operations Officer (old version).Waaaaaay to many variations for USMA.Haven't seen many references for VMI or Citadel. Edited May 5, 2007 by David S
Guest Rick Research Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 All I've ever seen are the "normal" WW2 ones with the "T" below the NCO stripes for "part-timers" with temporary specialists rank. Well, now we know where the USAF got the baaaaaaaaad ideas for their wild and crazy NCO stripes!
David S Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 I've got the Technicians as well but I just posted the rarely seen.I gravitate more towards the strange and unusual. Check out my South African goodies (albeit few) in the World Militaria section.
