The Red Eagle without any 1897 Centenary suggests this might be "reduced wear" fashion. SILVER Xs on the SWF so he was a lucky Captain with the Red Eagle, NOT a Major before the war.

And speaking of REDUCED wear-- what's with the 12.5mm Lippe War Honor Cross ribbon!?

It's always interresting to see such ribbon bar without centenray medal or without Hohenzollern knight cross ribbon. Perhaps an old captain who probably born in Weimar town and who served in an "obscure unit". It may be a reservist, it can explain why there is no centenary medal and no service medal.
