Christian Zulus Posted June 21, 2007 Share Posted June 21, 2007 Dear Doc,that's a anniversary-medal celebrating 50 years (1848 - 1898) of the rule of Emporer Franz Joseph AND it seems to be a special medal for school-children, because the inscription at the rv. says:"To the children for the anniversary celebration"The ribbon shows the colours of imperial Austria (= one part of the k.u.k.-Empire, the other part was Hungary): Black & gold.Retz is a very nice & charming small town with a long history in the north of Austria at the border to the Czech Republic.
