Some time ago I posted the following photo, which was puzzeled over as it was agreed that the National cockade removed pointed in the "Red" direction, and the anamolly was a Red wearing his medals...

I got a copy of the "2nd Bavarian J?gers" (in name only)... the Freikorps Aschaffenburg in 1919. a "Right" Freikorps.... ALSO with removed National cockades...

So it seems the independant Bavarian right removed them as well!

THAT must have confused things considerably! :speechless1:

Presumably BOTH sides chose the same method of distancing themsleves from the barracked still-getting-paid "real" army. :speechless:

Notice that your lot have stripped off their shoulder straps as well--

cocakade and strap removable elsewhere are invariably "left" indicators.

So this means that didn't apply in Bavaria.

    Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting!

Funnily enough... the Freikorps Aschaffenburg had very close ties to the Real Army.

In November 1918 the 2nd Bavarian J?ger bataillon was released from Service.

In 1919 a Newspaper ad called for combat veterans to volunteer (paid, food and lodging)

They were put into Volkswehr companies, 2nd Bavarian J?ger Bataillon, otherwise known as "Freikorps Aschaffenburg"

The stamps in the Milit?rpass are for the "4. Volkswehr Komp. 2 J?ger Batln."

The members were not all ex J?gers... basically anyone who had experiance could volunteer.
