Hermann Johann Paul Borchert apparently was born in 1888 (Draft Class 1908) but apparently joined up as a Naval Artillery volunteer 2 August 1914.

Promoted 26.9.17 as supernumerary Artillerie Maat (Unteroffizier)

    30.11.18 Oberartilleriemaat (Sergeant)

    discharged 10.12.18 to Flensburg

    Main units

    from 8.11.14 in 1st battery/ 2nd Marine Artillery Regiment

from 18.3.18 in IInd Battalion/ Heavy Corps Artillery Regiment

    all in Marinekorps Flandern.

Decorations are a bit smeared, but

    EK2 31.?.15, Mecklenburg-Schwerin FFC 2nd ("MK2") 14.(11.?)15, MK1 (30.11.16 ?), EK1 20.11.17

which is astonishing for a junior Petty Officer.

Find me his exact birthdate on that, please. It should be on the very first page. If it was 25 August, then he was a geriatric Marine Artillery retread officer--

    in 1936 Oberleutnant (MA-E) 1.6.25

    in 1937 Kapit?nleutnant (MA-E) 1.10.37 #1

and I lose him after the 1.1.39 Naval Birthdays Directory.

Excellent group! But that scratchs him as the (E) officer.
