Gordon Williamson Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 would like to have opinions on this one, thanks http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=125961The finish is very garish, normally these have a nice matt fire-gilt finish, but it may be nicer "in the flesh" if the garish finish is caused by flare from flash photography. On hand inspection would be nice to be certain - check dimensions etc, but there are no real obvious red flags as far as the execution of the design is concerned. (The way in which some parts of the anchor shaft are cut away with the arms of the swastika is correct for some, if not all, originals.) Checking the details against known originals, it is 100% spot on. (In fact its a perfect match for the original in the Niemann price guide book). The only really obvious off-putting thing is the colour.
John R Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 There are several areas I look at with this award and it looks fine in each. John
