Mike Dwyer Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 I saw this prize stein on a dealers site that has the Royal Bavarian arms on it and the annotation 20. Infanterie-Regt. Prinz Rupprecht, but all of my limited data shows this regiment as being titled 20. Infanterie-Regt. Prinz Franz. Did the title change at some time?
Guest Rick Research Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Huh!It was Rupprecht before the war, but changed to Franz by 1916. I wonder WHY, given that Rupprecht would have been the next King!?
Glenn J Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Prinz Franz was appointed Inhaber of the 20. Infanterie-Regiment on 5 November 1913. Presumably Rupprecht would have picked up his dad's Inhaber appointments in time RegardsGlenn
Guest Rick Research Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Ahhh, that's logical. Good old Ludwig The Third couldn't wait for his old pa to reach room temperature before ditching the whole "Regent" biz. That WOULD have made too many Regiments "K?nig."

It looks like 5th prize and a date 11 Something and I thought it was 1916, but perhaps it's 1910. Edited September 30, 2007 by Mike Dwyer
