Guest Rick Research Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I know this has been posted someplace in another Meiningen related thread, but can I find it? Nooo.So here it is again:Appears to be wearing OBERleutnant boards for a unit "243." Medal bar is the Merit Cross X of the Saxon Albert Order (SA4X), Prussian EK2, Saxe-Meiningen War Honor Cross (SMK) and Saxon XV Years army service cross. An SA4X should go to a Feldwebel-Leutnant, while the SMK should go to commissioned officers.Well, most of the time. Today I finally went through all the SA4Xs and compared them against the SMK roll done by me.Not a specific match, but down to ONLY these "suspects" and nobody else. Obviously our Nameless Portrait Person changed units after his last of the two awards. But there are no other possible recipients of BOTH only the SA4X and SMK.There are EIGHT suspects who had BOTH the SA4X (out of 1,389) and the SMK (out of 3,950, of which 537 were to Saxons) =1) D?lling, Albin (SA4X)/Alwin (SMK)SA4X as Feldwebel Leutnant in Saxon Landwehr Inf Rgt 133 on 25.5.16SMK as the same on 15.3.16; ?Postassistent Auerbach in Voigtland?2) Heun, OttoSA4X as Feldwebel Leutnant in Armierungs Bn 32 on 4.5.17SMK as Feldwebel Leutnant in II. Ersatz Bn/ Saxon Inf Rgt 106 on 19.10.16, ?Expedient Landesbrandversicheruing Zwickau?3) Kitzig, WilhelmSA4X as Feldwebel Leutnant in Saxon Inf Rgt 415 on 28.4.17SMK as the same 14.5.18, ?Postassistent aus Frankenhausen Kyffh?user?4) Klopfer, AlexanderSA4X as Feldwebel Leutnant in Landwehr Inf Rgt 133 on 20.7.15SMK as the same on 23.11.16, ?Bezirks-Steuerassistent aus Werdau?5) K?hler, EmilSA4X as Feldwebel Leutnant in Ldw Inf Rgt 133 on 15.9.15SMK as Feldwebel Leutnant in IV. Bn/ LIR 133 on 10.11.16, ?Grenzbeamter aus St. Egidien?6) Kuhnert, WilhelmSA4X as Feldwebel Leutnant in Res Inf Rgt 133 on 24.12.17SMK as the same 19.6.18, ?Bankbeamter aus Breslau?7) Petz, OttoSA4X as Feldwebel Leutnant in Ldw Inf Rgt 133 on 5.4.16SMK as Feldwebel Leutnant in 3./ LIR 133 on 7.12.15No civil occupation on SMK entry, so perhaps he was a career NCO and thus the best suspect for this photo?8) Zeidler, PaulSA4X as Feldwebel Leutnant in LIR 133 on 21.9.16SMK as Feldwebel Leutnant dL II in 16./IV./ LIR 133 on 19.12.16No civil occupation, but the SMK entry calls him ?der Landwehr II.?As a remote 9th possibility, a Karl Lindner matches on the name and rank (FdlLt) but NOT on both units (Heun's name appears to be unique despite the unit discrepancy).
Ulsterman Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 very cool! Many thanks for your tireless efforts! One day... all will be revealed.
