jshorter Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hello Everyone, Would any of you happen to know what the correct ribbon is for the Montenegrin 1875-78 War Medal? I have been doing some research, and I have found photographs of King Nicholas (see link below), and Prince Danilo wearing this medal, and it is definitely a triangular white ribbon, with THREE red stripes, not white with TWO red stripes as it is usually found.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...ingnicholas.jpgAlso, in Dimitri Romanoff's book, "The Orders, Medals, & History of Montenegro," he states that the ribbon was either white with 3 red stripes, OR a red ribbon with 2 white stripes (possibly the first one for military, and the second for civilian war supporters?). The red one with 2 white stripes looks identicle to the Austrian Order of Leopold ribbon. So, which one is correct!? Thank you very much in advance for any information you can provide!Jason L. Shorter
Piramida Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Hello JasonI've just now seen this.To answer your question funnily enough they are both correct. I checked a few books and all of them say that it came on both ribbons. It doesn't say which is for what so I believe there was no difference in issue regulations. That's as much I can say on this subject, sorry that I couldn't tell you more.Ivan
