webr55 Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 (edited) Have a look at my new pic: This elderly Bavarian fellow with 2 long service eagles is apparently still Oberleutnant-level, maybe Oberzahlmeister? Edited November 11, 2017 by webr55
webr55 Posted January 6, 2008 Author Posted January 6, 2008 (edited) Ribbon bar probably: EK2, BMVX (no swords?), Hindenburg X, 2x LS, Sudeten w/ bar, Rupprecht medal?, Austrian Bravery medal? Edited November 11, 2017 by webr55
Guest Rick Research Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Can you tell if he has TWO rows of Waffenfarbe under his shoulder boards? Maybe a Beamter, but not a paymaster or we'd see white under there. (I'm ignoring the hat Soutache, since it doesn't match but is "not PART of him" like the jacket.)He must be wearing Wehrmacht 12 and 4 to replace his Bavarian XII (or surely he'd be SOME rank higher, by the time he was vacationing in North Africa? ).Maybe-- since the rest of his ribbon bar looks correct, in last place he is PROPERLY wearing the Hungarian WWI Commemorative Medal without the usual unnecessary swords on its specific ribbon.

Ah yes, he might have been an NCO during WW1 who got the XII. Here's the shoulderboard; I think I see only one colour. Afrikakorps Beamter? Edited November 11, 2017 by webr55
Guest Rick Research Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 It looks the right size and flat end to be an "HV" cypher to me, too.
