Gordon Williamson Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Some frames from an original wartime newsreel. Cases for this badge which turn up today are almost invariably fake. Some claim there never were cases for this badge. Note the case (circled, being held by D?nitz) as the officer steps forward to receive the award.
Gordon Williamson Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 As the officer turns away, towards the camera, a glimpse of the badge inside the case. Note the dark lid interior, typical of genuine cases for naval awards, and the size of the case, which seems to be the type that cased Fleet badges etc are occasionally found in.

The speaker said the the officer got the Uboatwarbadge from Doenitz. I looked at the picture very closely at my television and i am sure he got a cased Uboat warbadge. Chris
Erik Krogh Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Amazing eyes, Gordon. I would have never picked this out without massive magnification. However, I probably would still not buy one of these from eBay...
