A commemorative piece in tribute to Ludendorf and Hindenburg. The inscription on the reverse refers to them as being the "Greatest Men of the World War" (At that time of course there hadn't yet been a "Second" World War, so it was just referred to as the "World War" rather than the "First" World War.

No idea of value but huge numbers of similar patriotic badges were made so it won't have a particularly hugh value.

It should be also noted we have a

"Guests Valuation & Identification Forum Section"

This section is for GUESTS (and members) to post queries in relation to identifying and evaluating ALL types of Medals and Militaria. PLEASE READ RULES BEFORE POSTING."

As I stated earlier (but strangely the post seems to have been deleted with no reason being given) :o

I agree with Gordon's assessment of the piece.

However, the broach hinge, pin and clasp HAVE to have been added after the item

was bought and converted for use as a broach / badge. (As shown by the letter "G" in the word "Erinerung")

This will affect the desirability amongst the purists but it still falls into the "Patriotika" range of Items.

And items like this tend to attract there own branch of collectors.

This item should be perfectly sell-able on the www.net as it shows no "offensive" symbols.

Agreed, seems to be a token turned into a badge.

I think it was often done in those days, with coins as well.
