Bob Hunter Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Although not technically imperial this item is mostly imperial. Is it a tall ribbon bar?
Bob Hunter Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 Actually it appears to be a half height medal bar that I understand was favored by Wurttemburgers...
Bob Hunter Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 ...and the flip side. Now, can anyone tell me why this particular style was favored in Wurttemburg?
Guest Rick Research Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 No fashion clue, but the Bavarians used the same basic style too:[attachmentid=11710]
notned Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Bob, was there really a certain parade medal bar type of ribbon style that the Wuerttemburger favoured?I am completing a bar of mine with this bar, i have a trio for it that came with ribbon bar and were all from the same man, but they were on ribbons and i wanted to keep them together on a parade mount bar and this turned up ( see pic) but i was wondering if they favoured another type of mount??? or is this one perfectly allowable???Thanks for your help!CheersPaul
notned Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Here are the trio that i want to mount up on the bar.CheersPaul
Bob Hunter Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 (edited) Certainly the furled ribbons are not unique to any state but are thought of as "south German." As I discussed this Stogieman he indicated the height of the bar was a trait favored by Wurttemburg. You can see Rick's Bavarian bar is a tad taller than mine.As far as what's proper you are on the right track. Tall or short, furled or not, it's a fashion statement rather than interpretation of regulations. Edited September 25, 2005 by Bob Hunter
notned Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Thanks Bob, Its good to know that this one will be ok with the Trio.I actually favour the parade style where the ribbon is furled and then sewn into a bellows like fold, as this gives the medals a nice cushion to sit on and therefore preserving the medals somewhat...( instead of the swaying loosely and rubbing and wearing against each other)I had thought that this type of ribbon bar was 'Barvarian' and wanted to be sure that the Wurttemburgers used this type often, so that it would not look out of place. Thanks again!RegardsPaul.
Stogieman Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Careful Mr. Research........... there is a difference in height between the Bavarian and W?rttemburg Bars.........
