Guest Rick Research Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Does this ring any bells with anybody? MASSIVELY faked along with everything else in the 1970s, but have I even got the right COUNTRY for that particular tab?I'm trying to place a similar design on buttons on the tunic of a junior ? police officer under the Soviet occupation 1940/41 and am not sure which of the three Baltic states used the design.
coldstream Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 (edited) The sunburst and stars was apparently used by the Latvian SS but according to Littlejohns book on Foreign Volunteers of the Third Reich it was not available until after early 1945. Here is an illustration of the patch for your info. He also states that this was the traditional badge worn by the Latvian Police which ties in with your buttons.Regards Simon.
