Interesting if well worn Soldbuch. It is well known than many Feldgendarmen remained in post after the war, still fully armed, and working under the control of the allies to assist in keeping order, keeping traffic flowing etc. The British in particular made full use of former Feldgendarmen. This book shows pay issues after the end of the war, but more interestingly, note the date of the last promotion to Unteroffizier der Feldgendarmerie - 1 June 1945. Not only were they still being paid, they were even receiving promotions.

He spent a long time as a Gefreiter - 5 years give or take!

Not that unusual for Feldgendarmerie. For guys like this who were army soldiers (in his case Grenadier Regt 390) transferred into the Fg promotion through NCO ranks could be slow. Most Fg senior NCOs were already NCO rank and had transferred into the Fg from the Polizei.

Is there much more in the book, any particularly interesting entries?

Nah, just the usual stuff. He did get the KVK2in 44 with the Fg. What particularly interested me in this one - apart from the large number of superb original wartime photos of Fg that came with it - is that it starts in September 1939 and ends in July 1945 so the guy was in service right through the war, from day one and still serving for a bit after the war ended.
