hunyadi Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 After sorely missing the Axis Forces dagger dispaly in the Hungarian Military Museum, I thought we could start a virtual one here. Please post any and all WW2 period Air Force Dress Daggers...Naturally I will start off with something HungarianAfter searching for five years now for one other (I sold my 1944 NCO dagger in 2003 ) I finnaly found an original. This is a Royal Hungarian Air Force officer grade pilots parade dagger. Original war time production. She is a bit salty - but she is not a four letter word that starts with "F". as many you see today are (as enterprising folks used parts of the old dies in the 1960's to make 'museum copies'....and till recently they produced many more...Anyhow - enjoy - if she could only tell the tales....
hunyadi Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 reverse...sorry for the poor pictures - the point-n-shoot does not do well with items this size. Too far away for macro and too close for normal...
hunyadi Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 blade - a bit of rust - notice - there is no, no, no, no engraving of any kind on it....
hunyadi Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 Detail of the cross guard - lots of wear on the eagle - but see how the wings 'flow' over the cross guard and are not cut out...
hunyadi Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) Button for securing it in place. Mostly hidden by the latch is the makers stamp - a Holy Hungarian Crown...thats it... Edited April 7, 2008 by hunyadi
