jshorter Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Hello everyone! Are these the correct style of ribbon bars for this medal? The ones I have seen for this one before appear to have a braided appearance....Thank you again!Jason
love4history Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 These look a lot like the ribbon bars of a WWI commemorative medal if you ask me. Usually one sees this POW medal with the short braided bars on it (the ones that probably were intended to go on a ribbon bar) But I'd like a more expert opinion then mine to back this up...
Hendrik Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Hi Jason,Specifications on the bars are a bit vague : height 2 mm, width equal to the ribbon's width ... Nothing about them being braided or not although the braided type seems to be the one most frequently used at the time. The WWI Commemorative Medal's bars are also 2 mm but either gilt or silvered, those for the POW medal are bronze ... so if yours are bronze and 2 mm, they're OK !Cheers,Hendrik
