Chris Boonzaier Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Any idea? 9th Infanterie Trupp? Gruppe? ThanksChris
Guest Rick Research Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I've never heard of a FIRST war "Sicherungstruppe" never mind that local to this Army Group, there were at least 9 of 'em! Nothing else came with this for clues as to whether this was a PATROL (? cavalry) or field police troop... or stepping on each other's boots there were so many of each other HQ guards? Baffled.
Chris Boonzaier Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Hi,it is an EK doc to Lehr Infanterie Regiment, Sch?tzen Emil St?ssel (1st Machinengewehr Kompagnie)BestChris
Chris Boonzaier Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Maybe these were post war special troops? It was signed on the 8th of December 1918 for an award on the 8th of November. I think the Sicherungstruppe were an immediate post war thing. Maybe before the Freikorps. Maybe to look after the Crown prince? After all, daddy had already left the country... Crown Prince must have been in a slightly precarious position as well....BestChris
Guest Rick Research Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. THAT explains it. NOT First War...this is the period when references were made to "Regierungsschutztruppen" and so forth. NOT guys in khaki fezzes with neck flaps... change of Situational Nomenclature. The interim police force of 1919 also went with "Sicherheitspolizei"-- later to be re-used as a name by the Nazis but with vastly different personnel and purpose. VERY short-lived transitional period!
