Tom Y Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) This just arrived the other day. I was tempted to add it to Dogs of War, but decided to give it its own space. It's about 4 in. high and looks like it was cut out of an album. The device on the cap looks like it might be an eagle, but a Totenkopf would make more sense. No telling what the cross is.He's definitely a Reiter of some kind.Anyone know of a good paint stripper? Guest Rick Research Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Could that just be a FLAKE coincidentally over his state cockade? It certainly looks pre-1897, so I'd expect only the single cockade on the capband. As for the "prop" puppy:Someone call Senator Byrd! ****** How do you STOP a wriggly little puppy from MOVING?...

Mike Dwyer Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) That would be the gilt Prussian eagle worn by the 1. Brandenburisches Dragoner Regiment Nr. 2, which this fellow appears to be a member of. Soooo, he's a dragoon, not a hussar. Edited May 26, 2008 by Mike Dwyer
Djedj Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Hi Gentlemen,These painted photos are definitely favourites of mine !Here's a painted Hussar - somehow merrier than the B&W versions :In fact I've got a small gallery of those :http://www.hussards-photos.com/Couleur_home.htmCheers,Jerome
