Christian L Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Got today 2 american veterans decorations which are made quiet nicely! The one with the broach on the top has the number 9102 on the lower broach part and seems to be for the Spanish War veterans and the other one is for the Grand Army of the Revolution. Can anyone tell me if the ribbons are correct? What else, history wise is behind those? Are they rare or rather common? Thanks a lot for your help in advance Christian
Guest Rick Research Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) star was for Civil War veterans of the Union Forces. The original ribbon was an American flag, so that has been replaced with the (?) correct ribbon from the Spanish-American war of 1898 veterans' cross ribbon. These were once fairly common but I haven't seen either in years, so I have clue what they sell for these days. (I remember Spanish American War veterans, which makes me feel Really Really Old-- thanks! ) :cheeky:
Christian L Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 Thanks a lot for the help Rick!but hey - old is acceptable in case you are a veteran of either of these wars ... other than that i can only reply:young boy! thanks a thousand times! Christian
Ulsterman Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Jeff Floyd can tell you more-but the numbers and makes are well documented. You can't trace the #s-at least not yet, but they go for @$100 over here these days.
