westfale Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Hello!Today I've got an Milit?rpa? of the "Gro?herzogl.-Mecklenburg. Feld-Artillerie Regiments Nr. 60". Does anyone of you have some info's about this unit and the way of it during ww1?Additionally it's interesting that the holder was a hanseatic man from hamburg wearing the hanseatic cross but not the iron cross or the mecklenburg MVK...Thanks a lot for your help!westfale
Mike Dwyer Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I'm afraid I don't have any information about the regiment's war service, but it was formed on 25 March 1899, was stationed in Schwerin and was part of the VII Armeekorps
Dave Danner Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 FAR 60 was part of the 17. Infanterie-Division for the entire war. A short history of the division can be found here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/17th_Division...erman_Empire%29Infanterie-Regiment Hamburg (2. Hanseatisches) Nr. 76 was also part of the 17. ID. Since Hamburg had no artillery of its own, men of Hamburg who went into the artillery instead of the infantry probably went to FAR 60 or FAR 24.
