Detlev Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 A little while ago, I got this medal into my collection. Not knowing what or when, I aim my darts towards this forum. One never knows..Please tell me what this medal is and where it comes from. I thought, looking at the form of the crown, it was something from 'The Order of The Crown', but I am not sure. I don't even know if it is the correct ribbon. The other side of the medal is blank with no marks or whatever.please help?thanks an awefull lot
Roeland Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Hello,it is not the Belgian order of the crown.I recon it might be a unofficial medal, probably a veteran medal. As I'm not familiar with this medal, I cannot be sure.kind regards,Roeland
Detlev Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 No you are right, since yesterday, I know the ribbon is from a spain medal from the civil war (1939 or something)But the medal is still a hard nut to crack !!I can say that the backside is textless. But the crown does look like exactly the same as the one used by the Belgain Order of the Crown...but the crosses look like german... Maybe looking towards that direction???any way, thanks for replyingAnd the search goes on..cheers
Arthur R Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Taprell Dorling's Ribbons and Medals shows the ribbon as that of an Italian medal for service in the Spanish Civil War. So it could be an Italian crown.
