Gordon Williamson Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 A recently released kit from the Czech Republic. Multi-media, injection moulded plastic, polyeurethane resin, cast metal and etched brass. Scale is 1/72
Gordon Williamson Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 She represents U-1, and in pre-war livery, hence she still carries the boat number on a plate at the bow.
Gordon Williamson Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 Overhead view. The red/white disc on the aft deck is the lid for the container with the rescue bouy. In wartime these were either painted over dark grey, or moved below the decking.
Gordon Williamson Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 She is also shown rigged for port with all her stanchions and deck rail/ropes in place.
Gordon Williamson Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 Close up of tower area. Completing her as pre-war meant the large bronze eagle on front of the tower could be shown and a bit of colour with the red life-preservers and white tower number. Also completing her as pre-war meant that she could be shown in "pristine" peacetime condition and I wouldn't have to spend ages adding weathering stains etc.
