John R Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Well, this one was found by a friend of mine in Kiel a few days ago. I have never seen a L/56 MS badge, but here it is for opinions. John

Gordon Williamson Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Don't get a good feeling on this one. The retaining hook isn't like the type used on known original pieces by this firm and it would appear that the font of the maker mark is different to known examples also. So far, marked examples by them encountered so far have featured a wide pin. I've seen unmarked U-Boats by this firm with a needle pin so it may be those offered for the retail market had the more expensive pins and those for official contract the simpler needle pins. Not one I'd take a chance on.
John R Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 Well, he was not too keen on it and he has been collecting MS badges for 20 years. However, somebody took a lot of time to make this reproduction--we add it to the list. John
