Tony Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Hello,Can anyone tell me if this badge is good or bad from the scan alone?I don?t have it with me but have been told it isn?t easily bent. Does it date from WWI?ThanksTony
harribobs Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 doesn't look too good to me, a poorly stamped copy IMHO
Tony Posted January 15, 2006 Author Posted January 15, 2006 doesn't look too good to me, a poorly stamped copy IMHOThanks, I've still not had it in my hands but it came with a group of medals I bought a while back. I'll be collecting them when I get back home in March.Tony
Tony Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 Looks okay to me.........Cheers Leigh.I now have the badge with me and it feels nice and heavy in the hand. It came with this little lot http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=6886...hl=albert+evans and a few weeks back I managed to buy his plaque so have my first reunite. I'm going back home for the weekend next week and will pick it up.Tony
Jim Maclean Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Looks OK, I like what appears to be a slight taper to the slider.
leigh kitchen Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Some people dismiss all tapered sliders out of hand as fakes, some years ago a faker used tapered sliders, but not all badges with them are fake. And I think it was "FM BHAM" who producrd genuine badges with manufacturer marked tapered sliders.
spionKopKid Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Hi chaps. just wondering why "fakes" would exhist for this medal, are the originals worth a considerable amount, I thought they were only 5 to 10 only?Just asking as i have one of these I'm looking to sell.
spionKopKid Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 replace "medal" with "badge" above, got a bit carried away with my first post!!
leigh kitchen Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Even the most common badges are faked nowadays, the existence of original old dies no doubt helps make current production of common badges economical for the replica / fake manufacturer. It's a bit of a surprise to think that cap / beret badges to the LF ceased to be worn for coming up 50 years ago.
