Harrier Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 (edited) It is indeed a real enamel wreath. I thought it was also a nice touch to use one blue ribbon, instead of 2, for the LS awards! Edited October 10, 2008 by Harrier
Scott Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Of those awards, the Lifesaving Medal (which the Nazis hated) would have been first.Rick, please forgive my ignorance, but why was the Life Saving medal 'hated'?(Great thread by the way)
MattGibbs Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Something to do with the fact it was waaaaay down the precedence in 3rd Reich era? I'm sure Rick will know exactly
Guest Rick Research Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I have no explanation for the Nazis' irrational disdain of lifesaving awards. There is simply no other way to understand "why" they took the pre-eminent civil award and slammed it back behind a Hindenburg Cross in precedence regulations .Recipients very often simply kept their justifiably prized award where it had been BEFORE the Third Reich.
