pluribus Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 (edited) What do you think about this one? Is it good? Edited November 20, 2008 by pluribus
Gordon Williamson Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Not in great condition, but I think it could well be OK. There is a school of thought that all wartime original Souval badges had curved edges to the base of the hinge, like the one shown below, and that those with a square cornered base to the hinge are postwar.Personally, I think this is nonsense and that the shape of the base of the hinge is irrelevant.Souval badges however, will always be considered a bit speculative by many due to their continuing to be made well after the war ended.Even those with what are generally recognised as correct wartime fittings may well have been assembled after the war from remaining stocks of components and many believe that double marked Souval badges (with an L/58 mark as well as "R.S.") are post-war assembled from original parts.
