Navy head and shoulder boards

Does anybody know what this is? Possible value?

Looks to be a US Navy full dress cocked hat and full dress shoulder boards for a Medical Lt. Commander. This type of uniform is no longer used. I'm not sure of the date but I believe these items were not used after WW2. The value would be between $200 - $300.

I'm amazed they are not in the usual black tin named storage case. From the apparently immaculate condition, the case must just have been thrown away very very recently.

There is actually a very nice leather case with brass hardware that fits this set!
