Paul C
I don't think I haev posted this at the GMIC. I just dug up a matching ribbon bar for this medal bar. The Waldeck Military Service Cross and the Oldenburg Friedrich August Cross is a very odd combination. I can not find any connection. Waldeck had one infantry regiment at the beginning of the war IR 83. Can anyone find a connection between Waldeck and Oldenburg?
Paul C
The matching ribbon bar, minus the Hindenburg Cross, seems to be wartime due to the flat pin type.
Guest Rick Research
Excellent. See? I told you to hold onto that!"Connection" is the 10th Ersatz Division in 1914-- Brigade Ersatz Battalions from Oldenburg and Waldeck (and a mishmash of other states) were hastily combined and STAYED mixed together even after normal wartime regiments were formed later. That's it-- the ONLY connection I've ever found.
