Valgor Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 I saw an online store that offered these as originals. There was a box where you could select the amount. It went up to 12 or something. Well if they are originals and you pay the price for single medals, not a bar...I guess there's worse things...

Ed_Haynes Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 While the medals were issued in the multi-millions and that mounted pair must have existed in the millions, I'd agree that the online "wholesale deal" smells pretty bad.

Kev in Deva Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Sorry Alex K its an obvious fake as it should be:-1. Prussian Iron Cross 1914 II Class, with Combatant Ribbon,2. Hindenburg Combatant Cross with swords.3. Prussian Iron Cross 1914 II Class, non-combatant ribbon4. Hindenburg Non-Combatant Cross without swords.5. Prussian Iron Cross 1914, II Class with Combatant Ribbon6. Hindenburg Widows Cross without swords. The owner would have been in the line or up the line, after being wounded in combat heworked as a non-combatant stretcher bearer, again being wounded, after being treated for wounds he was sent home after receiving news that his son had been killed in combat. For his dedication to duty the Kaiser ordered an extra EK II Class on a non-combatant ribbon for him Kevin in Deva

I suppose I could have added the 1870,1939, 1957 versions of the EK at the same time to recognise his extremely long service!regardsAlex K
