    correction

    "F.14 H 14/19 (t)" = 10cm leichte Feld Haubitze 14/19 (tschechische)

    Richtkanonier = gun aimer

    Light Field Gun 1918, I think.

    The reason for his transfer to the reserve will probably be found in his civilian occupation. I note from what you've shown that he was demobilized over the winter of 1940-41 to resume whatever his civilian job was.

    Not knowing how old he was from the above, can't venture any other guess.

    The 1944 entry MAY suggest an injury since he was found "temporarily unfit but liable to recall." But an "essential to the war effort" civilian occupation is more likely.

    I assume there is no "F" "Temporary Get Out Of The Wehrmacht Free" Notice tucked inside the cover where it should be?

    (Nobody who HAD one of these would ever ever have lost it... back then! :catjava: )

    Even better, of course, would have been the "G" "Get Out Of The Wehrmacht Forever" Notice:

    Herr Spiegelberg's expertise, without which the Thousand Year Reich could not have lasted as long as it did by keeping him away from the army or the Polizei-Reserve (he'd been in the Berlin SiPo after returning from Finland in 1918) was...

    piano-player "artiste." :rolleyes:

    Corruption always enters into the picture, too. :catjava:

    Herr Spiegelberg also got free bus travel under the Soviet occupation in Year Zero as a "people's artist"-- still pounding that "essential" piano. Survival is... survival....

    Ok, I think the entry in the Wehrpass reads: l.f.H.18 (not l.f.G.) = leichte Feldhaubitze 18 (10,5 cm)

    Hardy
