Mark C Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 A real-photo postcard being sold out of Japan. I think the seller's description did not do it justice. The first group is an Italian band in their grey field uniforms, and just beyond them a number of carabinieri (military police) in full dress. I guess they don't go anywhere without their bicorne hats, even to Siberia! The next group is another band with a white flag out front - they might be British, or they might be White Russians. In the way back under the Rising Sun would be Japanese sailors in dark blue with white caps.Regards,M ConradMaryland
Chuck In Oregon Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 That is a terrific photo. Looks like an honor guard at the arch on the pier and double row of sailors to present the honors. Is that the VIP on the street going toward the farewell or are they waiting on the VIP to disembark? Since everyone seems to be goofing off at rest, I guess they're all still waiting for him to appear.Does anyone know what those characters on the left say? Thanks for sharing this one.Chuck
