Chris Boonzaier Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 For a man from the 15th Reserve J?ger battalionA unit that actually DID replace the field docs with nice ones....His EK2
Chris Boonzaier Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 Nice enough to provide wound badge docs with date and place of wound (very uncommon!)
Guest Rick Research Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 :Cat-Scratch: I am particularly enamoured of the action shields on the unit follow up documents-- note the additional data filled in on shields previously blank between the EK2 and EK1 awards. Now you have a new task in life:collecting every single possible variation with more and more (and less and less) action shields filled in. It is also quite quite odd to see a "follow up" document from a LOWER level unit "DUPLICATING" one from a HIGHER one. EK1 temporary signed by the divisional commander/fancy followup signed by the battalion CO.
Chris Boonzaier Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 The unit is a major pain in the ass though.....Until the end of 1915 it seems to have stayed with the 43rd reserve division on the greek border, but then have been split away as the division went west at the beginning of 1916....it then appears in 1918 in the 195th ID (apparently as part of the 14 J?ger regiment)I dont know what its parent regiment was from 1916-1918.BestChris
