Now, the same (and I mean the same) straps are for sale again - only this time demoted (sans Tresse) and numbers removed.

So what is the point of "stripping" the tress in particular? Other than messing up a pair of shoulder straps what's gained by doing that, or were they put togethers in the first place?

If I am not mistaken the picture is taken from a website of computer generated WW2 uniforms all using the same face

and used to be on the Digger-History Website a couple of years ago.
