    Hello everyone!

I have been told that the War Commemorative Medal 1870-71 was sometimes issued as a replacement, etc., and that it would not have been rim impressed "From Captured Canon." Is this true, and does it make the medal any less valuable or historically accurate / interesting?

    Thank you!

    Jason

The original issued pieces were impressed "from captured cannons." Private purchase replacements were not.

Less value, yes, especially if loose and not in mounted groups.
