These are from the Nassau refugee family von Boos-Waldeck's Bohemian album from the 1860s.

Here is what all the Cartes de Visite I have been posting look like "live" and original size:

Labelled "Graf Degenfeld" by the English wife and mother married into the vB-W family, probably some decades later since so many of the identifications are "off."

I have tweaked these to make them a LITTLE better--

August Graf von Degenfeld-Schonburg won his Military Maria Theresa Order, barely visible under his collar, for action at Novara 23 March 1849. He went on to become Feldzeugmeister and Minister of War. This photo was taken in 1863.

He is wearing his MMTO-Knight and 25 Years Service Cross on trifold ribbons, over Grand Cross of the Order of Leopold with War Decoration for the Knight's Class, and some other star I cannot identify:

Count Degenfeld (who appears to have known Pontius Pilate personally :speechless1: ) died 5 December 1876.

"Graf Nostic" (also often found in the album in civilian attire as "Graf Nostice" was ACTUALLY

Hermann Graf von Nostitz-Rinek. Won his MMTO for action at Puszta-Harkaly on 3 August 1849 as a cavalry Colonel. He ultimately retired as a Feldmarschalleutnant, so unless they used different numberss of stars back then, this was taken before 1855 when he was promoted to generalmajor. (? Brigadier 1, Generalmajor 2, FMLT 3 rather than the later GM 1, FMLT 2, General der Etwas 3?)

    MMTO blown up 500%.

    Yeah. :catjava:

He died in Prague 27 December 1895 forty years after being promotedf to General!

    Wikipedia

    http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_von_Degenfeld-Schonburg

August Franz Johann Christoph Graf von Degenfeld-Schonburg (auch Schomberg; * 10. Dezember 1798 in Gross-Kanicsa (Nagykanizsa), Ungarn; ? 5.

    Hello,

in the beautiful photographic portrait posted by Rick, count Degenfeld seems wearing (after what I can see in the rather faded detail of the picture) the most rare Leopold Order Star of Grand Cross with War Decoration of Lower Class (i.e. with golden laurel wreath between the enamelled centre cross' arms). Very, very interesting!

    Best wishes,

    Enzo

Regretably these are all cheap faded sepia cards. Probably printed by the hundreds and left at every social call... not intended for US 150 years later. :(
