Guest Rick Research
Aha. The key to 1-2 is old Oberleutnant (dR) Schimpke. He and FwLt Bahr, Lt Wiulhelm, and Lt Altmann must all have belonged to 1st Guard Foot Artillery Regiment, since they've got collar Litzen and that's where HE was before the war.#3 is just a hoot of an image. What theatrical posing! Great image!#4-- Is Major Schmidt wearing 57 on his boards? To his comrade Malchers.#5-6 well, there's a nice bunch of neatly named Saxons for you. Have fun with the award rolls!!! #8-- another great image-- TOUGH, MUDDY-- TIRED. No crap from ANYBODY!!! To Bettges from Lichtblau.#11-12 to Major Engelmann from regimental doctor Oberarzt aD (Fain?) Inf Rgt 432. Horrible handwriting!I shall have to go look in DeadPrussians to see who did not survive the war. Except for the LIR 133 Saxons.

Guest Rick Research
Can't link a Major Schmidt to Inf Rgt 57, so either a transfer or a reservist?Lt Koller of Fussart Rgt 5 must have been a reserve officer. Too bad he only signed his last name writing to friend Leo Benteler in RFAR 47.Common names aren't much help in tracking people down in odd little units like Foot Artillery where they could have ended up anywhere.
