Noor Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Hi,I would like to share one lovely ribbon bar, what I got last year, with you guys.Any extra info about the owner would be nice. Like I understand he was surely officer. Service during WW1. But is there anything else what is possible to "read" out from those three awards - rank level, etc? Thanks,Noor
Lion Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 The first one is probablyKnight in the order of the Crown: with silver palm 14-18: official modelThis indicates that he was involved in WWIThe second is the military cross with rosette, indicates that he is an officierwith a number of years of service or a somewhat higher rank. The third one is a commemorative medal for the reign of Leopold II.It is possible this is only a part of a bar, there should be a WWI victory medaland a commemorative medal for WWI.But the fact that he has a the military cross first classand a Knight's medal could be an indication that he was notinvolved in combat action.I should expect an officer's medal in the order of the Crown, nextto a military cross first class, certainly if he was more closely involvedin any military action. It is possible that he was already of some age when the war started.
farmer Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 The first one is probably Knight in the order of the Crown: with silver palm 14-18: official model Lion, To my eye, colour of the ribbon is a lot closer to that of Leopold I Order. Crown Order had somewhat more red in it and in my opinion this has a lot more 'pinkish' then red. It is possible this was a Knigt of the LI Order. Non officers would be given a silver palm and Officers would have gold palm on their Chivalry Orders for WW1 service. What do you think?
