Guest Rick Research Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 If you sold them years ago, now is a bit late to get research! That Red Banner is from a mass Ukaz of 20 year long service awards made on 17 May 1951.That Red Star is from a jumbled range of numbers awarded late 1944 to mid 1945, so could be for anything.
SMLE Posted July 11, 2009 Author Posted July 11, 2009 Thanks for the reply. I know it's a bit late really but I saw some of the posts on here where people have researched awards and had never thought it was possible in the past. Peeked my interest. Is there anything further that can be gleaned? Thanks again.
Guest Rick Research Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Copy paste this and print it out for carrying around to shows-- might make a bit of difference for picking up any Soviet Orders NOW:http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtop...ost&p=75419Collectors are of two minds about long service awards. They may be boring in themselves, but to me they virtually guarantee that you are looking at an officer's award and thus somebody who HAD a career which can be researched. An initial award type Red Banner usually indicates that the recipient had no Red Banner already, so might be fairly tame, by odds. But EVERYBODY got Red Stars at 15 years service between late 1944 and late 1957... so you never know WHO such a "stray" may heve been awarded to. A mid 1950s long service Red Star could turn out very very interesting indeed....
